Default Help with Tranny/Steering Column Linkage Hangup

I need to remove my steering column ASAP from my 01 1500 and cannot separate the tranny linkage whatsoever. The rod appears mechanically pressed into a rubberish grommet in the collar of the engine-side steering column. I have attempted small pulley pullers, but there is not enough room due to the firewall and master cylinder. Additionally, I have tried prybars and various other tools, but nothing works. I cannot detach the linkage lower down due to the 90 degree angle preventing me from being able to fit the rod through the firewall with the steering shaft. Can someone please help ASAP?
Also, any advice on disconnecting AC lines would be awesome. I have one undone, but the other will not come out no matter what I do.
Thanks!
