Default What exhaust on 05 ram

we got a new parts truck yesterday and its a 05 ram with a 4.7. what exhaust sounds the best on these trucks? i have a magnaflow muffler i took off my gmc and was wondering if it would sound good on it. thinking of putting 2 of these tips exiting out the stock location kinda like corsa does on a gm.

Either 12289 (5"x8"x24") or 12589 (5"x11"x22") Magnaflow will sound pretty good. They are big SI/SO 3" mufflers that have a deep tone.

i know the magnaflow i had on my truck sounded awesome but it had alot of drone but my truck didnt have cats and i think this truck will sound good with it on it. what about that resonator after the axle on the tailpipe? if you cut that out will it change the tone also?

Leave the resonator, it will help with the drone and it's straight through, so it won't hurt performance.

The 4.7's have the small round resonator, don't they? It's much smaller than the one that comes on the Hemi's, so I don't think it will affect the sound much. If you're worried about the sound, get a smaller Magnaflow and still leave the resonator on for the reason I stated before. General rule of thumb for mufflers is, the smaller the louder. The two I listed are pretty big, get a smaller one if you're worried about the resonator muffling the exhaust sound itself.

I second that (but, this was for my 5.7, so I can't vouch for the smaller 4.7). It was just too loud when I took the resonator off when I swapped the stock muffler for a Flowmaster Super 40. It sounded pretty much the same with the resonator than without, just MUCH louder with it off and a drone in the cab on the highway at cruising. I also recommend the Magnaflow as previously mentioned...can't really go wrong.

What kind of sound are you going for? Do you want it tame on the highway when cruising?
