sounds like a leak????

Im fairly new to the forum and i need some help. i would really like to start doing things to my truck but not until i resolve this problem.
I installed my CAI back in November with no problems. But ever since about January, I have been noticing a rattling sound in the cab while accelerating from about 2000 rpm, only on the punch, not cruising. I have not been able to duplicate the sound at idle in park or neutral. Well I had been waiting to put the superchips in until i got this problem resolved so i took it into the dealership to have them investigate it. I asked tem for a ride along so that i didnt waste my day with "we couldn't find what you were talking about". as soon as we started driving, the shop foreman immediately blamed the K&N. i asked them to go ahead and please take a look at it. When i went to pick up the truck, they told me that they threw it on the lift and sniffed for exhaust leak and it was all okay.
He said that the O.E. filter housing has a built in muffler/dampner for sound. that this was the same problem that he faced about three years ago. They say that it is the valve train vibrating through the metal and amplifying it.
I have gotten under the truck myself and noticed some build up on the forward passenger side flange and some from that point on back on the connections.
I haven't installed my old one because i cant find it. afraid that we tossed it.
My whole question is why only at that particular rpm? Not on take offs or low speed acceleration. Not at idle or in nuetral at same rpm's?
Please let me know what you all think.

you have just found the PVC rattle..... all the 04+ Hemis do it with a CAI, the stock hat has a baffle in it that reduces the noise. It is not the valve train.... that is a whole nother tick! the PVC rattle sounds like detonation and will drive you crazy... and I have to wonder if the knock sensors pick it up as well... Just think, it is always there you just have to install an aftermarket CAI to hear it... I have an 03 and the Hemi tick drives me crazy in a drive thru....
the dealers will not be very sympathetic about noises when you install aftermarket parts.... and they will tell you all kinds of crap!
