Removing something from the Turbo?
I've heard about removing some sort of resonator/ ring from your factory turbo on 5.9's. Whats up with that and what are the benefits? Thanks!

It's all about sound. If you have an aftermarket intake, the turbo whine can get quite loud. Just a thought versus those that run no silencer with factory air boxes...

It can be. We took one off my buddy's 24v Cummins and anything over 2200rpm's, its almost hard to hear yourself talk. He's running an AFE stage ll intake and a 5" MBRP exhaust. Maybe it won't be so annoyingly loud if you are running a stock setup. I don't think it adds any power, just in case you were looking for that.

silencer ring removal
to remove the ring its pretty ez, all you have to do is take the intake tubing from the air box to the turbo off, than if you look in the turbo you will see a snap ring and one side is cut at an angle to where you can get a flat head screw driver and pry it out. after you remove that, the silencer ring will just pull out. Also to get more turbo whistle (if you are still using the stock intake) theres a section in the intake tube that looks like a 8 inch long can in the middle of the tube and inside there is a piece of plastic shaped like a cross with a bunch of small holes drilled in it, just pry the end of the area where the seem is apart and pull the cross shaped thing out and use some pvc glue or scilicone to place the end back to the pipe
