Default Quite cummins?

How do i make my cummins quite?

My '96 is too noisy with my close neighbors. I listened to a 2013 cummins recently and man it was a quite as a gas engine. How did they do that? Is there any way i can get mine that quite?

Don't think an old 12 valve will ever be quiet

I'm wondering how they do it with the later models. I heard there is some noise suppression inside the valve cover and oil pan.

Not real sure about the suppression. The 4th generation do sound way different than the previous generation 6.7's. Far as your 12v try out flo pro or diamond eye exhaust with their mufflers. That should help out quite a bit

Thx fast lane but those look like performance enhancers not noise reducers.

I believe the castings have noise considerations as well as the method used to control the injectors.

Is there a fix or anything that would help my '96 Frosty?

Yeah like said, it wont ever be that quiet. Only with a engine swap haha.. The newer diesels with piezoelectric injectors precisely control the combustion event with pilot injection, which really quiets them down.

Cummins doesn't use piezoelectric injectors. You will never get a quiet engine with only a single injection pulse.
