Want to convert my 1990 GMC to standard tranny

Sorry, got rather busy with work. My main reason for converting to a manual tranny is the fact that I enjoy throwing my own gears. I'm building the truck for me to enjoy on the weekends. I did some looking into the NV4500, but wasn't sure it would hold the horse power of the 383 I have ordered (should be delivered monday). It's a Blueprint Engines 383 stroker with 420HP/450TQ. From everything I've read so far I figured the t56 was probably the strongest route to go. I don't plan on racing the truck. The real question I had was whether it would be easier to swap a 4 speed from an older truck/car or the t56.
