Default Upgrading 1994 4.3 Vortec

I've been planning on updating the interior of my 94 to a 97/98 version and would like to make the swap as much of a plug and play as possible. In doing this upgrade I know that the wiring harness is different for my 94 4.3 vs. one for a 97/98 I was looking for any input to the idea of upgrading the injection system of my 94 to that of a 97/98 and then use the same year wiring harness, anyone have thoughts on the idea

you will have to swap in the entire engine/tranny wiring harness with motor/tranny.
