Default Need AC Help

Working on my 92 .. All of the AC Components are good.
Traced the problem back to wiring. If I pull the controller out of the dash, and wiggle the wires, the Ac works flawless. The oonly problem is, the wiring harness gets extremely hot. I assume I have a ground problem, or the harness is shotrted.

Anyone else seen this problem, before I tear into the dash.

92 Silverado, 5.7l longbed 4x4 ... AC Controller is tghe digital display with recirc button.

thanks!!

Brian

Hot like you can't touch it? or just pretty warm? Could be loose solder on one of the terminals in the unit, causing it to pull amperage when you wiggle it. Sounds like it needs replaced. Take it apart and see what you can find, might save you some money.

hot as in you do not want to touch it.. I suspect it is one of the terminal connections on back on unit, or the diode on the compressor has let go.

Could be both ???

heat is comming from resistance. get a wiring diagram and a volt meter and with the circuit powered do a voltage drop across each of the wires. if you have a volt or 2 drop theres your problem.. or it could be your control..
