Default Leaking oil... badly.

Well, this day was going to come sooner or later. Noticed a while back that I was getting oil sprayed up on the tailgate. Well, looked under and behold, just about everything was black... not good. Did some looking around under the engine and determined that it was an old oil pan gasket. So I replaced, and it had been running fine, and dry. Well, here goes the oil again. Took to a Pepboys and had them look at it. Verdict is the front and rear main seals are going bad, seems to me that they've gone bad. Anyway, did some thinking and after thinking about the time and energy to go into replacing them and pulling everything out, etc., etc., it seems to me that it wouldn't be a bad time to drop in something new... might as well go for a trans. as well.

Any ideas? I'm looking for, at the least, a good streetable 300hp, maybe a bit more.

You could just drop in a gm crate 350...i think with headers and a 4-barrel there rated at 250 hp....then you could just build it as you go along with some nice heads and a cam!
