Information on 88-98 frames offsets.
I have a 1991 Chevy truck that I am in the process converting from a 4.3 to a 383…
My question is does anyone have any information on 88-98 chevy truck that move the motor to the passenger side from the factory. My 383 is setting more to one side and is the away to fix this problem. With the motor setting to the passenger side reg header will not fit. Thank you for any help of links. |
I will see what kind of critical measurements I can get from my 5.7L its in an 88.

did you take the 4.3 mounts off and swap to the 350 frame mounts with the 3 bolt clam shell mounts on the block? if so theres no reason why your "motor is off"
|
My 1990 does sit offset a tad that makes the headers tight to fit in on the passenger side....and its 5.7L truck from the factory with poly. bushings.

the whole drivetrain is offset to the passenger side from the factory. by regular headers, you probably mean not for your truck. get a set specifically for the 88-98 c1500 pickup and they will fit
|
it should still fit if he is using the "stock manifold" and is using the 3 bolt frame mounts for the 350 and the clam shell mount on the block. i understand it being "offset" but it shouldnt be enough to stop you from bolting in the motor, and the LTs/Shortie headers if they are designed for your truck

Here a photo of my set-up... the headers are hitting where the frame rail turns by the starter area..
i called hooker today and they are telling me they never heard of any problem of the super comp headers in the C1500 truck... i guess i will try this and see what the out come is. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...85/photo_2.jpg |
what motor mounts are you running? i cant really see them. did you try loosing your frame mounts an "lifting" the passenger side a little them try to fit the LT? i wish i could see it in person and itd be easier to determine the problem.
you used the stock 3 bolts in the frame right? you didnt redrill the frame to make the mounts work |
they are stock frame and motor mounts. i can get the headers to bolt up loose. when you tight up the header bolts it twisted the header upwards. when this happen the mid-part of the header hits the frame where it dose the S(where the frame narrow) shape.
