Dust covers poking out center caps on rims
#1
I have a '85 c10. I put some Boss 20s on it and the dust covers poke out the center caps on the rims. I have the djm 5/7 lowering kit. Is the djm spindle going to fix this problem? is there anything anyone has done besides beating the crap out of the dust cover to make this work?

i have same problem on my 91 sierra with ss rims. i have seen trucks like mine with the ss rims, so i know it can be done... not sure if they used wheel spacers or not. the spindles aren't likely to help, but you can try. i have belltechs.

i would say we have 2 options from what i can see:
1. have the spindle shaft cut about 1/2" or so and the threads smoothed, and possibly have the hub on the rotor machined down a little
2. use wheel spacers, yuck
maybe try not using the dust cover? i mean, since the rim has a center cap, it might be ok??? maybe put some silicone sealant where the dust cover was?

How much space are you talking about? half inch? quarter inch? Get yourself a BFH and smack the end of the dust cover. Shorten the length of the cover and it should work. As you start beatin on the cover be sure to check the fit to make sure you arent opening up the other end so that it will still fit the truck.
