92 White/Grey SS gets 572" transplant!
Been a while since my last post about the 92 SS. I have finally decided on what direction to take with the mods to the truck. Rather than try and mod the original engine I decided to pull it and mothball incase I ever decide to de-mod and sale the truck, engine is in excellent condition with 77K miles.
I decided to replace the engine with a built 572" Big Block. The engine is a pump gas friendly build with a Hydraulic Roller Stick and will go Carbureted for the time being. I will retain the 4L80E and upgrade to a Circle D converter and still use the factory ECM to control functions.
The Engine specs are as follows:
Dart Gen 6 block
Callies Dragonslayer Crankshaft
Manley H-Beam connecting rods
Diamond Racing custom pistons
AFR 315 CNC Rect Port Heads
Edelbrock Victor Jr. 454 R intake
Pro Systems 1000 HP with all upgrades
Comp Cams valve train components
GM Hyd Roller 254/264 @ .050" .632"/.632" on 112 LSA
ATI Superdamper
Transmission:
4L80E original tranny in great shape for now
Circle D Pro Series Stage 2 258 mm 2B 3200 conv.
TCI SFI approved Flexplate
B&M 40,000 GVW tranny cooler with 6AN lines and fittings
Stock ECM for Trans control
Exhaust:
Hooker Supercomp 2" x 3.5" LTs/V-band clamps/jet hotted
3.5" duals with X-Pipe/3.5" Flowmaster Super 50 series large case mufflers/3" over axle pipes exiting downward at each rear corner.
Suspension:
Lowered 4"/6" with BellTech components with Flip Kit
Cal-Trac bars for traction aid
Looking for some Double adjustable shocks for this application? Any suggestions ? Viking Shocks?
Cooling:
Be Cool 80069 Double Row complete Module with Dual 16" Spal fans with A/C harness and manual fan control harness supposedly good to cool 1000 HP
Wheels & tires:
Weld Racing RT/S series & M/T rubber
Fronts- 15" x 5" w/ 2.5" back spacing
Fronts- M/T 28" x 6.0" x 15" Radial front runners
Rears-15" x 9.33" w/ 5.5" back spacing
Rears- M/t 295-65-15 Drag Radials
Here are a few pics of how its coming along:

They are actually the 5x 5" for the 88-98 body style trucks. I looked forever trying to find a nice Drag Race looking wheel and did not realize that Weld Racing offered the RT/S wheels in this bolt pattern. Summit, Jegs, or anyone for that matter shows them on their websites since its kind of an obsolete pattern. I searched the Weld Racing website and saw where they were available on a build to order basis. Took 6 weeks to get them, but I think it was worth the wait.
