Default 84 C/10 5.3L swap... ANNOYING QUESTION....

Hey guys, haven't been on here in a while. I am swapping a 5.3l into my old truck. I know its been asked a 1000 times. But I will ask it once more.

Is there anything "hinky" I should know about? Anything special I should be on the look out for?
I already have the engine, making the harness now. I have my choice of either a 6.0L or the 5.3L intakes, Not sure their is ANY advantages going with the 6.0L or not?
Got lsx swap engine mounts. Headers.

Is there ANYTHING I might be overlooking? I've been told the oil pan might not work.

Any comments from a veteran swapper, maybe shine some light on the subject?

Thanks in advance for any info...

Here's a couple pics of the old truck...

I'll say this, if you think you have all your ducks in a row for a swap like this, don't be surprised when you don't. Something always hinders progress or bites you in the ***. I don't know how many times I brainstormed a project only to come across something completely unexpected. Just how it goes.

we used the stock oil pan with no problems in a 77 and a 85
along with Fbody 1 3/4" LT headers.

Intakes are the same so use which ever you want.

just dive in and have fun..

what fuel pump / regulator / filter are you goin to use?

We used a walbro 255 inline, and a vette filter/regulator setup since it was cheap and easy to get.

Thanks guys....
I have modified the stock fuel tank for an in tank pump set up. I am using a 255 style pump I got from O'reilly AP....I am also using the corvette filter and regulator set up. If the in tank pump doesn't work I plan on using a AEROMOTIVE 1000 pump I have. I think it should feed it pretty good. The only mods right now is a re-ground stock cam to the XR281HR COMP CAM ....should type that number in youtube and listen to that 69 or 70 model c10 cut up with it.
Well that's what I need to know, also the website that shows how to make you own harness isn't called LT1SWAP or something like that??? Anyone know of a better site for making your own harnesses???

Thanks....

So is it cable or electric throttlebody? I cant rem if all the tahoes came with electric or not.

Its actually pretty dang easy.

All the pink wires get Ign Fused power, Orange gets 12V+ from battery, black goes to ground.

Cool....thanks. I will be using a 4L60e transmission. I will probably have about that many fuses and relays too. I going to try and use all the accessories I can. Good to know that help is only a few keystrokes away....Thanks...
