Default Getting Started

So I'ma start buying mods for my 03 silverado 5.3. I want to start off cheap and work my way up.
I was gonna get some 4.10 gears but I drive 100miles a day and I'd rather do my gears around the time I get a tune.
I was thinken about buying a TB spacer. Is there any brand imparticular i should get or are they all about the same since its just a spacer?
Since I don't like ordering 1 thing at a time i'll probably go ahead and get a 160 thermostat.

Next in line would probably be an exhaust. I already have a SI DO Flowmaster catback. So what's a good set of headers to run on these newer engines? I'll decide on what kinda SI SO mufflers to get later.

After I do the exhaust I might get started on a cam and rockers. But we'll have to see how things go with my blazer. Gotta have something to drive after all.

TBspacer is a waste of money

get long tube headers - pacesetter, stainless works dynatech, etc.

160 tstat doenst help that much maybe 1-2hp and loose 1mpg

no need for rockers either, just get a cam with the duration and lift that you want, but you will need some valve springs to go with your cam

+!
Spacer is worthless
Go for the long tube headers.

Stick around a do a god bit of reading. Most of us have tried all the gimmicks and know what works-and what doesn't. Save some $$.

tb spacer = cool whistle...thats it...unless tapped for nitrous

get ya some kind of cold air intake...i suggest making your own= ALOT cheaper

next your exhaust= pacesetter or obx longtubes to save some money

tune it

drive for a couple weeks, realize its still not enough

get some 4.10 gears and enjoy that for awhile, then decide you want a little lope. time for cam springs and push rods.

cold air, exhaust and tune first though

The TB spacer and thermostat are wastes of money. Tune, gears, and headers will make you very happy to start off with...

No doubt, I don't like buyen stuff without getting opinions. I figure why waste my money testing something when I can let someone else do it for me.

I know, its amazing how much smoke a gimp truck can produce. i thought about just dropping into 1st to begin with and just let it limit out. But whats the point in doing that when your the slow one.

I wasn't wanting the Thermo for HP, thats mainly to help with cooling a bit, I know it don't help alot but err lil bit makes a difference.

Totally agree. I can't believe those kits cost so much when its just a piece of Pipe, a clamp, and a filter. Give me a break!

So. Who wants to put the crap on for me?

Lockers is a must for sure. This is all you get to see without one.

The thermostat won't really even hardly keep your engine noticeably cooler. Besides, these engines aren't made to run extremely cool. Get some electric fans so you free up some horsepower...
