Default Suspension Change for 04 4X4 2500HD

Ok I know that I am going to get flammed for this heavily but before I begin here is the reason. You always loose money when selling and buying another vehicle, I own my 04 GME short bed, ext. cab 4X4 outright, and it only has 28,000 miles on it. I am going to need to use the truck for work more (basically hwy driving) and I will need to lower it's suspension (taking clients around some a little long in the tooth. I've seen a number of lowering kits, the DJM looks to be best with two options, 3-5 drop and 6-8 drop the last only being for 2wd trucks. I would like to go with the 6-8 but it would require the loss of the 4X4. Does anyone know if they loose their 4X4 it would create an error code? Thx

the error code would be "service 4x4" on the DIC once you unhooked all the wiring from the transfer case but as to the reason for needing to lower you truck i dont under stand just screw out you torsion keys and that will lower the front end

it was my understanding that while using the DJM kit I would have to disable the 4X4 system, I certainly would perfer your suggestion and I will ask. I am also (which is likely the best route) going to see what I can on craigslist for the truck and go from there and pick up a 1/2 ton, I guess it's also a bit difficult to part with the truck given it's the first new truck I've owned, but in the end it's just metal I suppose.

you still haven't explained the reason why its necessary to lower you truck for work?

I am running 20 inch wheels and so the truck sits a bit higher than normal but the reason for lowering is because some of my clients are a bit older and I know it's not going to be easy for them to get in and out of the car, so that is the main reason.

When I asked about the larger drop kit I was told that the stresses that would be created would be too much on parts of the front suspension, I guess not enough tests have been done to this point.

i think a 3/5 would look pretty nice on a 3/4 ton, you should still be able to maintain 4x4...
and if that not low enough put a dam step lol, dont ditch the 4x4 system all together...

Do a 3/5 on it. Dont lose the 4wd I dropped my 98' k3500 and it was worlds better all that weight closer to the ground handled awesome.

I agree, if the 3/5 isn't low enough I'll just have to sell it and go with a 1/2 ton, I just hate to sell. I'll post some photos and see who might be interested if necessary.
