I'm a GM tech here. Just so happens I bought a 270k mile 03 CCSB LB7 last weekend. Last I checked it seems like my cost on injectors at work was just shy of 1600. My hangup is for one the warranty and for another I'm not an absolute believer in them. I know they are supposed to be the latest and greatest and best but there has only been one set out of the dozen or so sets I've put in that I felt really good about. My take on it is if you put them in, fire it up and run the rail pressure up to 23,000 and the engine stays perfectly smooth, doesn't rattle, and the only change is a nice deep mellow tone in the exhaust then you have a good set. Like I said I've only had one set of injectors from the GM parts counter do this. For my dads LB7 I went with injectors from Merchant Automotive. He gets 1800 a set but offers a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty and guarantees them to be the latest with updated injector bodies and hardened/chrome plated ball and seats to ward off erosion and pitting that leads to all the white smoke. On the initial fire up of my dads LB7 I had the same scenario. It was the quietest LB7 I've heard to date, like LBZ quiet, and it ran absolutely silky smooth even with the rail pressure turned all the way up. On top of that even with a 60-70 hp tow tune in it there is absolutely no smoke. Thats just my take on it.

The other part of the equation is some swear by adding a lift pump to solve the injector issue. The idea is to keep all the air out of the fuel supply system and keep it slightly pressurized. The way it is stock the injection pump actually sucks the fuel through the filter potentially creating an air gap in the top of the filter and if nothing else limiting the amount of filter media being used. The other part is the FICM sitting on top of the valve cover getting the fuel nice and hot. Some have sited that between the heat of compressing the fuel for injection and the heat of the engine and FICM the fuel can get up to its flash point and actually start to vaporize somewhat especially if you have a slightly restricted filter and its under a vacuum. It sounds like a bit of a stretch but when you think about it there is some logic to it too. I'm putting a lift pump on mine and a Nicktane his adapter that allows you to run a Cat 2 micron filter on the stock filter head. I seem to remember the stock AC Delco filter is in the 10-12 micron range.

injectors, efi live tune, air box mod and exhaust. The truck will roll then! The nice thing about efi live is with a good tune job the smoke is minimal. I put down 738 rwhp and I have very minimal smoke until around 85-90 mph then it has a light trail.
