OK. I have a buddy who deceided he wanted to put a Comp 132-501-12 cam in. Its a 258/268 .450 .450 on a 109LSA. So he brought it to another buddy's shop to get installed. Long story short the truck hasnt run since. All the valves and pushrods were mangled and the heads damaged. So he gets his truck back in this condition and had a diesel wiz kid come over to get it running again. Thinking the previous installer was clueless. They repalced all the valves,pushrods,pin,heads,etc... They go to crank it up last night and it runs for about 3 seconds and then dies. They open it back up and the same thing has happened. All the valves,pushrods,etc.. are mangled. He has contacted comp to se if they were familiar with this or had ever heard of this. So I told him Id check the web. There it is.

 

Only 2 thing can cause that, 1 the timing chain was not installed correctly and index properly, or 2 the cam was incorrectly ground.

 

Did the second guy change anything from what the first guy did?

 

With that much duration, isn't PTV clearance a problem? Is this a diesel or gas?
