Default Little help please

I've always wanted to supercharge my truck, I thought it would be the greatest thing in the world. But I've sat down and to start from scratch I will spend atleast $7500. My truck would keep up with a diesel right up to the point where I grenade my drivetrain. I could take that money and get a diesel, with a modest $400-$600 tune I would probably be as fast as the S.C. gasser every would be. But most importantly, the truck could hold the power.

Here's the question. I drove an 06 LBZ with the 6 speed. I loved the power and the economy was pretty good. I didn't like the turbo lag. It wasn't bad from a stop but when you pass at 50mph it took a couple seconds to "wake up" and go. Can this be tuned out or improved? I know that I could possibly get used to it but I'd rather not.
Thanks a lot for all the help, this is really killing me.

Yes and no to my knowlege. Stock these trucks just like to be eased into the throttle while cruising if ya want to pass, totally different from a gasser.A good tune and air intake will help the lag. You can make big power easy with a diesel. There are guys all day long running high 12's or less with simple programming/exhaust and tranny upgrades. Check out thedieselplace.com for awesome advice/tech and friendly people!

When mine was totally stock I definatly noticed that lag feeling when stomping the gas to pass (no pun intended).
After getting the Edge Evo installed, the lag has been reduced. There is still a slight delay but not real bad. You'll get used to it.

A common misconception is people think the diesel drivetrain will take the abuse... Its much like a gasser- it's not designed to. Sure it will last for a little while longer, but depending on your driving habits, you will grenade that Allison tranny with ease..

If you stay stock you'll never hurt the stock Allison, It is Strong, But adding 100+ Horsepower to anything and hard driving will hurt it at some point. Ive been running mine on Edge LVL 6 with just a shift kit. I do know down the road i will upgrade my clutches and tq verter for some real fun. You'll find Dodge and Ford guys dog the Allison cuz thier jealous and they know its the Strongest Trans out there. the same Allison in our trucks comes in dump trucks, large buses, trash trucks and so on.

Im not doggin the Allison, its a very well built transmission. And I am jealous because Dodge couldnt build a transmission if they tried hard. But like all transmissions, they are destined to fail when you push them above and beyond what they were built to do.

Yes, Well put! I wasnt doggin you BTW either We all know to go fast you need to beef up stock drive trains, some are stonger than others, but all need work when you want to throw 500+ RWHP at em and run em down the QTR!
