Duramax Toast
I have a 2003 Duramax crew cab 3500. 245000km and the motor knocked like hell then stopped hard.n So I found a used motor/truck 02 2500 extended cab 185000km no box front drivers wheel was ripped off in crash. 3 wheels and tires. Trans but no t-case for $5000.00 Is this the best wat to go, as I think my truck running is not worth a whole lot.

If the motor is good, thats not a bad price.. You can get a new motor for alittle more. I would phone Ted at MPL Motorsports in Lacombe to see what he can do for ya. 403-782-5405, you may have to leave a message. He specializes in Duramax performance and service..

I would dig around at diesel place forums also, there are more folks with dmax parts over there. Goodluck with the engine, even used they are definitely not cheap.

A DirtyMax..lol.."Duramax" crate engine sells for $6777.78 from GM. So, if you can buy a wreck which will yeild you a Transmission and an Engine for $5000.00 ...IMO it's a helluva deal! Considering the trans would run you $3687.52
