Yes that is the year with the LB7. The LB7 came from 01 to early 04. An easy way to tell is the 8th diget of the vin# will be 1.
As far as aftermarket....like said above it all depends on how much power you want to make and what you want to do with the truck. Westers offers a mail order tune for them, but another option if you don't want to go to crazy would be the Edge juice w/ additude. It has 5 levels up to 150hp all switchable on the fly. Around $700 for the complete package. I drove a truck that had 35" tires on it and with the edge on level 5 I could smoke them from a roll. The rest of the truck was stock. I was very impressed with it.

An intake won't really buy you much in the way of gains. A good start would be an exhaust system to improve flow and lower your EGT's. Then add a simple module like the Edge EZ or the Edge Juice for a nice solid gain. If you get the Edge Juice you can opt for the Attitude controller for extra options and doubles as a set of gauges.
Don't plan on adding more than 100 or so horsepower on the stock trans or you will begin to damage the Allison. Step the power up in stages, give the trans time to adapt it's shift strategies and it will hold pretty well up to that level. Any further and it will be time to modify it to hold the big power.
EFILive is also an excellent option if you want to start tuning your truck yourself.

warpspeedperformance.com for a $300 4" turbo back exhaust, bully dog tuner W/crazy larry, simple K&N drop in filter. Those should make a reliable powerhouse. The crazy larry tune will toast a stock tranny in a hury though so be careful with it. I believe it adds something like 230+rwhp and 400+rwtq. Its freaking nuts.
