There are alot of similarities between the dmax and the LSx motors particularly how the lifters are under the head.

What all are you getting done to the new motor? Expectations? I see you cracked a piston, is that due to just having too much power or a tuning issue. I dont know if diesels detonate but in a gas motor that would most likely be the cause of that piston failure. Are you dieselplace?

Im going to be getting an LMM in a year or so, so Im trying to do my studying now so Ill have a game plan for when I get it

 

Good write up!! From what i have seen the Duramax seems to fail around 700 rwhp with a stock motor. They normally bend a rod or two..lol

 

WIN Brandon! Didnt see this one on DP, but ive been using your removal guide so far to get my LMM motor out..... and Im sure Ill use this in the teardown!
