BMDMAX's Guide to Engine Teardown Hotness
#1
Round two in the engine rebuild process. I am sure I will have a bit more to add but this is a good start for the first round brain dump. Questions, comments and concerns are welcome, just remember to write them on a 100 dollar bill before submitting them.
Enjoy. (Please note, this guide is IE friendly, Firefox will not display the photos)

There are alot of similarities between the dmax and the LSx motors particularly how the lifters are under the head.
My motor

What all are you getting done to the new motor? Expectations? I see you cracked a piston, is that due to just having too much power or a tuning issue. I dont know if diesels detonate but in a gas motor that would most likely be the cause of that piston failure. Are you dieselplace?
Im going to be getting an LMM in a year or so, so Im trying to do my studying now so Ill have a game plan for when I get it
