Bilstein 4600 Shocks
Anyone have these shocks on your 2500HD 4WD truck? Are you happy with them? Why or why not?
Also: I see the 5100 series is offered for lifted trucks. Mine isn't lifted, per se, but I did level the ride height, so the front ride height is about 2 inches higher than stock. All stock suspension components. So the main question is, does the 4600 front shock run out of travel in the extension or rebound direction? Or with the stock upper control arms is this not really an issue because the stock arms will be the limiting factor in suspension travel?

I just have a 1500, but I love the 5100 shocks in mine and I am not lifted. There are a couple types of 5100 shocks. Go with one that is for 0-2.5 inches of lift. And the leveling always looks nice. I've also heard from other 2500hd owners that they love their 5100s. Never tried the 4600 so I can't comment about those.

I ran the 5100's on both my 04 and my 05.... and threw both sets in the garbage in short time. For one they rode as stiff as a board which these trucks ride rough enough as is without a 2X4 for a shock. But the big kicker was leaks...... both sets of rears on both trucks started leaking right away. The 05 is my work truck and sees washed out swampy gravel roads and within 10000 miles both rears had started leaking fluid...... previous KYB's never did in 80000 miles time and neither have the subsequent KYB's I replaced them with.
The 04 is worse though..... 15000 miles and this truck does nothing. Never tows... no weight in the back and only paved ( although terrible because of my location) highways. Again both were leaking but the passenger rear was so bad it had lost it's rebound and was dead..... 15000 miles. Yeah it gets really cold here but that truck went nowhere so I don't know. Both have KYB Monomaxes now again and I will just stick with that.
Both trucks are stock ride height and the 5100 are rated for stock height. The 4600 is the same shock internally just no lift abilities and no anodized case lol.
That's off the 04. Yes the one is really dirty..... it also puked all its oil out and unfortunately our highways are as dusty as gravel until around July lol........ so being up by the muffler the shock didn't get washed... but just as well to show the issue.
