Anyone else ever had this problem with their D-Max?

Have you ever gone to start your truck but it wont? First off its a 2003 d-max with allison and its my dads so I have never been in the truck when it happens so I dont know the specifics but I can find out if it would help. I remember when he first bought it in 03 he had the same problem and ended up having to have it towed (out of the garage) to the dealer and they couldnt find anything wrong. Another problem he has told me is that he's been sitting at a light or something and the truck will die (thats got to be embarassing lol) then finnaly cranks after 4 or 5 tries. While im asking I might as well ask this, sometimes his whole gauge cluster wont "turn on" when he turns the truck on, then has to turn it off 2 or 3 times for it to start to reading agian. Sry its so long and thanks for any help in advance.

Try this.... with the headlights on, turn the key switch on and wiggle the key back and forth, if the cluster lights dim or shut-off the key switch is the problem. When I had a problem with my truck I did alot or reading and seems like the key switch goes bad every now and then and causes some weird **** to happen.
