Exclamation 6.6L in an 05 2500HD Gas Burner

I bought an 05 2500 HD for $800 and am needing some info on swapping out the gas burner. I do tow a lot and figured this would be a good route. Everything is perfect on this except for the motor and tranny. My brother is an insurance agent and he ran into this deal. The truck somehow sucked water in the motor and locked it up. Instead of just putting another 6.0 in it I just want to put a duramax in it. Has anyone ever done this. I searched and just saw the guy that put one is his RCSB. This is a 2500HD so I wonder if I could just swap the wiring, guage cluster, computer, fuse box, etc... Anyone know of an actual write up?

I would like the answer to this question myself, but seems like a lot more in involved including new gas tank, filler etc. I would have love to do that swap in my Tahoe.

Youll have to find a totalled truck and swap everything over and I mean EVERYTHING drivetrain wise. The BCM is the same but thats about where the similarities end.

You could call the guy at duraburb. He swaps dmaxs into 2500 suburbans. As far as i know if you got the engine and trans they only other thing you would need is all the computers.

Thanks. I have everything to do the swap. That's not what I'm worried about If it's just engine, tranny, engine and tranny harness, ecm, and bcm. If it's going to be a real big deal, I'll just put another Lq4 in it.

i'm pretty sure you'll need an engine, tranny, all of the computers, a new fuel system (tank to motor), possibly driveshaft and rear-end, and maybe even the cooling system. I spend a fair bit of time under our two duramaxes and it's a whole new world inside of those things.

Talk to this guy on GMFS. He's done it on a Denali. http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/member.php?u=1897
