i just spent the last month in Abilene & would've dropped everything to go validate that truck if you'd posted this a week ago.
my uncle also had one in this configuration, but everybody has called me a liar for 15yrs saying GM never made them... when i've personally seen some service schematics in the dealer shop that were marked as being for 4.8/5.3 manual trucks (that the same diagram for a 2000 only showed as 4.8 manual).
please ask him for the VIN and explain that your insurance company needs it to give you a quote & for a carfax check (which he hopefully pulls from the windshield or door jamb) and also ask for a shot of the RPO sticker from the glove box to help you understand all its configured options. unless he's a useless lazy ****, anybody who wants to sell a vehicle shouldn't have an issue providing that data.
and when you get it, PLEASE post it here. you'll be looking for LM7 (5.3L) and MW3 (nv4500)... because i can't imagine them installing the MG5 (nv3500) in there.

Unfortunately, the guy took down the post and my last message didn't go through, so we'll have to keep looking for evidence.... 🤦😭
