06 LBZ Duramax will not start - video
260k miles
It's been sitting for about a year
no check engine lights
It was religiously maintained at one time, but not for the last 60k miles or so.
Spent most of it's life as a yard truck pulling a hydro test trailer around the yard and a few repetitive road trips.
The engine will crank, but not start.
I've replaced the entire fuel filter head assembly along with a new filter.
Purged with the vent screw open, and it gets solid fuel coming out
A few more pumps until it starts to get a little firm
I can crank the engine over, but it has erratic cranking. It will pulse crank, slow crank, skips crank
All while holding the key forward, it will stop cranking on it's own.
After 12-15 attempts of priming the pump, it will fire for a few short seconds and then die.
Any suggestions?
If I put the trans in neutral, it will not roll. It acts as if it's stuck in gear. Could this also be an issue?

I bet it won't move because the brakes have rust build up on all 4 corners and it needs to break that free first to move.
Have you tried cleaning the battery terminals yet? Possible electrical issue??
And starting and dying right away could also be a security problem.

I was going to disconnect the drive shaft to make it roll. It rocks back and forth as if it's stuck in gear, but the dash lights up in neutral.
Batteries are clean and fully charged. Both are 1000cca.
I'll hook up my HPT tuners and try relinking the VATs
It's been abused the last 60K miles, so there's no telling on the electrical issues part.
batteries seem to be good.
I'm open to any suggestions. I'm just trying to get it running. I want the engine and trans, the rest will be parted out.

it's possible, the whole underside is packed full of mud from being a yard truck
could be
Another guy on a board suggested that it might be an injector that's stuck open. That would explain the funky cranking that it does. I'll pull the glow plugs and see if I have a sprinkler while cranking

I did pull the glow plugs yesterday and they were all dry and they are new.
I primed the filter head and cranked the engine over, nothing that would suggest a bad "open" injector. No fuel came out while cranking.

When they become air bound they are a pain sometimes to get running, you can also crack the injector hard lines and prime away for the rest of the day lol and it should fire. Example: crack the lines pump pump pump, crank, pump pump pump, crank, etc then close the injectors and attempt to start. Then repeat until fuel gets upstairs
Edit: I just watched the video......... Sounds like the ignition circuit has a short somewhere, where at the battery terminal end or the starter wiring. I would remove the solenoid ignition wire and test it to see how long it is actually calling for power, it almost acts like a power to ground short or voltage drop. You never know a critter could have gnawing on the wires
