A Little Disappointed

A Little Disappointed
I recently completed a 6.0 4l80 swap on my 02 reg cag Z71. The engine is a low mileage stock bottom end with patriot 317 heads and comp cam. The cam specs are 226/222 on 115. Tranny is pretty much stock with a shift kit and a Circle D torque converter(3500). Now for the disappointing part. I recently had it tuned and it runs and drives great , but just feels really slow. It will not even peel out from a dig. I know that the totally stock exhaust and stock injectors are not good for performance, but I still expected more. My totally stock 5.3 Extended cab with a yank 3000 ran much better. This build is not ment to be NA., it will be turbocharged soon. I would hate to bolt the turbo on and it be this boring down low. After all that why I chose the 4x4. Any thoughts?

What gears and what tires are you running? and post a pic!

Wondering did you degree the cam ? I had one recently 6 degrees out and had to get an adjustable timing chain\gear set or fight the battle of returning and waiting weeks.
If it was out a lot, you could certainly have a Dog Motor. Just food for thought on what could be a long list of possible things to make it slow

Combo is all botched up so I'm not sure what exactly you're expecting. Even a fully functioning 6 liter setup n/a is a turd.
Also, if you're not familiar with the 80e, going from a 60e is a dramatic difference in 1st gear due to the different gearing between the two trans. It's like compared a sprinter to a slug off the line, you need power to light it off.
Who's tuning it?

[QUOTE=George C....;5303988]patriot cams are junk
patriot heads suck and false flow numbers
80e is killing you big time
unless your over 500 rwhp then a 80e hurts ya[/QUOTE
It's a comp cam and patriot heads. I would not buy these parts today, but it's what I had laying around from an abandoned build back in 04. Just trying to run what I have.

The first gear in the 80e is 2.48 and the 60e is 3.06 or something, so that's a huge factor on your dig runs! The truck should be pretty lively after you get the turbo on! I would run a lower gear either way, at least a 4:10 maybe even lower depending on what size tires you run
