Default Warning! If you're buying a 2015 silverado read this first!!!

So I bought a 2015 2500 4x4 silverado. Truck did not have the factory hitch or brake controller on the truck, I asked at the purchase if these could be added, specifically the in dash brake controller so the sway control and the stability would still work right.

I was told yes, it could be, purchased truck over 4th of July weekend.

Fast forward to today. I called a week ago inquiring about the parts/install, just got a call, dealer tells me the parts can be ordered but they can not reprogram the truck to make it work because it wasn't there from the factory. They may later come out with a kit I was told, but right now I have a truck I can't even use to move my trailer......!?!?!

Moral of the story is, if the truck you're looking at doesnt have what you want on it, do not buy it!

That doesn't make any sense at all. Call a different dealer & talk to their Accessories Dept manager.

I agree it makes no sense. I'm working on it... Will be calling tomorrow off to work now. I will update as things develop, and will give dealer names here in ct as well.

They are not very hard to install, there are plenty of plug and play aftermarket ones.

Well I confirmed, you can not add the integrated controller to a truck that doesn't have it from the factory.

Dealer is "looking" for a duplicate with the hitch and controller.... I already know the $ out of pocket isn't gonna be worth it.

Stuck putting the god damn aftermarket one on the dash, which I absolutely hate. Every time I get in the truck and look at it, I'm gonna be reminded of this transaction. Pisses me off :-(

I've talked to another service dept, a truck that didn't come with the in dash brake controller, actually can't be set up with it!!!!

Dealer gm called me as I've had a couple heated emails already get sent... And he's looking for a duplicate with the hitch/controller in it. I'm going to entertain what he has to say for a swap... But I already know with his comments about depreciation of my truck with 1200 miles on it this won't work. But, I'm giving him the opportunity to try...

Bottom line, if it doesn't have what you want, order it with what you want. Plain and simple.

I will give out dealer and salesman info shortly after I get the word back from this guy just so everyone knows who to stay the hell away from unless by some miracle this actually gets done right. I'm hoping it does... But the reality is that it probably won't happen.

Wow, that's some bullshit. Did you get in writing that it can be added, as part of the purchase agreement maybe?

Yep you got screwed. The GMT-900 are same way you cannot add the oe integrated brake controller on them either. They are waaay too integrated into the trucks electrical system and programming in abs module ins cluster and bcm is unique also.
