Default air intake compatibility

hope this is the right section for this
hey guys, ive got an 09 sierra 1500 5.3, i was tlaking to a fella with an 08 sierra 1500 5.3 and he said hes got a k&n cold air intake for sale. so i checked online to see if it was the same thing, i assumed it was being that 07-13 is essentially the same truck, but it lists a different part number for 07-08 and 09-13. any idea if itll fit or if it can be made to fit without much hacking of things? im posting before using the search button in hopes to get a quick response as this is a bit of a time sensitive purchase for me.

I had a 08 kit and sold it to a guy with a 10... It's slightly different as had to mod it to fit
A drop in kn and airraid tube is just as good if not better IMO

the guy selling it is only asking 100 cdn for it so if i can get it to work with little effort ill do that. by the time i get the elbow the filter, and a length of pipe bent to work ill probably be in to it for the same or more. do you recall what he had to mod to make it work?

Pipe bent? Airraid is the tube to your factory intake box, kn you drop it in. No I don't know what he had to do . Just said had to mod it and cut some stuff up.

07-08 should be a MAF housing, unlike the 09+ which should be a "card" style MAF. I could be wrong on the 4.8 models for 09+

ahh ok i thought it was just a tube with a 90 degree bend in it. gotcha.

him and i both have the 5.3, not sure how much different it is between that and the 4.8. im gonna wait for him to send me a picture and ill compare it to my stocker and see what it is.

nevermind i just checked on to another forum i threw this up on and youre right, one just plugs in to the tube and the other slides in. that being said, i may just be able to bypass that and drill a hole and call it a day. ill have to go up to his place and check sizing to make sure itll all fit. or just make my own intake if nothing else.

thanks for all the help guys, appreciate it

i put it on today, here are my findings.

first, it fits but it seems to be about 2-3 inches too short, that wasnt an issues i just pushed the heatshield back a bit and attached it all from there. this kit didnt have a hole for the maf so a 1 inch bit along with some trimming and she fit in there and sealed up nicely. aside from that it fits.

i reset the computer in the process and got a 20 minute drive in. its not very loud, but loud enough for me to hear, but ive also got a 40 series flowmaster muffler on her so that probably eats up most of the noise.

right off the hop the truck felt more responsive off idle. it felt good before but now it feels like the truck had a lag at low revs. shes quite a bit more responsive down low which works great for me. cruising around town there isnt much difference but thats because she just drives around in 5th gear most of the time in an effort to conserve fuel. driving in tow mode she again feels more responsive than before. getting in the gas and letting her sing through the rev range i didnt really notice anything. this is likely because its a crew cab regular box sle with 4wd and weighs just shy of 6000 pounds, so a few hp really isnt going to be noticeable. im happy with it, ive got $100 in to this thing and cant complain
