It's not that it's just covering all my bases. Honda did something similar when all their 4cyl can swap in any Honda/Acura. Everything is also interchangeable with some exceptions to wiring just like these LS based swaps.

I still haven't found a good place other than the one dealer recommendation. Are there other recommendations? Now I'm looking to find a 4.8 truck since they're easier to come by I need to find a new long block or get a cheap one to have rebuilt. I don't know what would be cheaper....buy a Long Block and put in the Cam and Springs my self or get a cheap block and have left over fuel system and have that one all rebuilt to factory specs with them putting in a cam and springs or whatever else I would need for an even more reliable boosted DD.

This cost is not a whole lot different.
If you feel you are capable and have the tools to rebuild it, do so.
The reason one through the local dealer is typically more is, 1. They have to warranty it. 2 sometimes a core comes back with non useable parts. they have to replace those with new.
They don't fail often but it has happened whether defective parts or human error.
Price out all the parts, bearings, gaskets & seals, bolts and any upgrades. Then add about $1000 for machine shop labor. This is just a rough cost, but should cover most all the basic machining labor on a Long block rebuild.

Scoggin dickey is damm hard to beat their prices. Warranty is biggest seller if youare planning on leaving it alone. 3 year 100K mile warranty valid at any gm dealer nationwide for a service replacement motor. If you do any GMPP performance engines they are 2 year 24K valid at any gm dealer also

I tried looking up a 2002-2006 6.0, that would be a LQ9, correct? I didn't see a 6.0 LQ9 or if I searched for a 04 or 06 2500HD, no 6.0 Long blocks came up. I saw a 6.0 LS2, LY6, LS0, and a couple that say 6.0/366. How do I know what is what?
