How long do you think a 4l60e would last on 4-5psi of boost

Default How long do you think a 4l60e would last on 4-5psi of boost

Just curious if anyone think making 300whp uncorrected at 5200ft of altitude would still allow my stock 4l60e to survive until I did a 4l80 swap.

I live in Denver (soon to be Casper), and spend all my time between 5000-9000+ ft, and obviously my stock LM7 is not making much above 200whp uncorrected up here.

It'd be nice to pull the hill without much effort, or a least as if it was back down at sea level. And some of the turbo kits look fairly easy to install. (I have done 4g63 6 bolt swaps on DSM's, have a lift to use, etc, etc).

Thanks!

Food for thought. Do many guys with the 4l80e swap tow at all? I was think this would be a neat thing to turn into a fun daily driver/occasional race car towing vehicle.

Looks like I just just build a drivetrain and swap it all at once.

Perfect. I am amazed by what these older 1/2 tons can do. I briefly worked in the diesel truck performance industry, and those guys would spent $8k on a tranny to run 11's lol.

GM Trucks with LS engines are nothing more than a Rolling LEGO set for adults.

ALL over the place with my 6,200 lbs Express. Regularly pull 7,000-7,500# behind it with only a 3.73 rear gear. Have a big cooler plumbed inline after the factory in-radiator cooler that has a pusher fan on it.

I don't even hold it out of overdrive until I have ~4,000 lbs behind it and at that point it I only do it to take the load off the engine and keep the converter locked. If I had 4.10s or 4.56s, I wouldn't have a problem towing 7K and beyond in overdrive.

Do you have any pics of your tranny cooler setup? I was thinking of doing that as one of the first mods on the truck to keep this 60e happy until I build a 80e.
