In just did the repin for my 4l80e conversion. My new vss came with crimp connectors but I still soldered.

It really is easy.

That makes sense now. I may just get the Speartech harness and then all I have to do is run their pigtail to the PCM...I think. I wonder if I have to pull those two pins or just swap them?

Meaning:
Pull PIN 42 and move it to PIN 23
Pull PIN 79 and move it to PIN 22

Or don't move either and determine which one from the Speartech kit would be
added to the PCM and NOT remove the wires from PINs 79 and 42. Would this affect anything?

For some reason I'm just over thinking this and would probably make more sense if I was under the truck, which I don't have yet :-)

The tranny plug comes alert easier than any other plug I've ever taken apart. You just move 2 wires in the plug, no soldering. It took less than 5 minutes to do it all 4 times I've done it.

No matter how you do it you have to add the VSS. There is an extra plug in the harness under the hood somewhere that works for the VSS plug(I forget where so you will have to find that). Get some wire and pcm pins and plug it into the pcm plug. There are extra wires from the harness going to the pcm if you want to figure out which ones to steal from there you wouldn't even have to buy those. You would just need the wire.

Doing it this way will cost you pcm plugs and wire, so $5-$10. All you will need is wire strippers and a pick or small screwdriver. You should probably solder the connections and heat shrink to do it right.

It really is that easy, so stop over thinking it. To me 30-45 minutes of work is worth not spending $150.
