Default Posting Up My Lean Tune & Log

Everyone is alarmed by a 12.5 AFR FI tune but it seems to be doing OK. No KR what so ever and @ only a near 400HP I'm told by some not to worry. But not by as many who say get it to 11.8.

I'm putting links to my HTP tune and log file up for your scrutiny. I use fileswap.com and don't think you have to register to download the file. Let me know.

Your ignition timing at light loads really needs some work,it is to low in those areas!!

Yea, doing 20 across the board is safe, but you leave a lot on the table with timing that low under light load.

Are you sure your wideband is right?

Thanks Guys,

I like the way it runs but if it can run better I would like to know where your talking about the timing is low. If you could show me an example table? I am a nooby tuner.

All that I have done so far is get it to scan with my PLX AFR and Boost, and just this afternoon reset my transmission back to stock with success.

I will say my truck under light loads such as rolling the throttle on slowly to change lanes @ 70mph without downshifting will ping just a teeny, weeny, tad, not with this tune but it had to be adjusted out in the past to stop it. Would you say this would be the area your talking about?

Thanks

well here is an example spark table. your values should be much lower but in a similiar fashion

The higher values are where your cam is most effecient, and bleed off from there. Notice the peak around 4000rpm. This is what we mean by not having a flat 20 degrees across the board.

I see it in mine. a block of 20's. Gosh that looks like a reason for detonation waiting to happen being too far advanced. Agree? Do those numbers reflect the actual timing degrees?

I'm really a wanna be tuner noob waiting to find a school or mentor in my area.

I would love for you to make a change to my table you would start with and send me a screen shot. I know you cannot save it but you can do a screen shot yes?

And I know, at my own risk.

Well to be honest man, ive never turned a FI engine and wouldnt feel comfortable sending you something that could potentially damage your engine.

The numbers in the cells are the actual spark advance. Try increasing yours 2 degrees at a time and check for knock, if you get ANY, decrease the timing 2 degrees and leave it alone. Once you get that dialed in, copy the high octane table (the one you should be working on), over to the low octane table, and then multiply the entire table by 0.9 incase you get crappy fuel or something.

I would agree on 20 degrees is really pushing it in a FI engine depending on your AFR.

OK, I hear you,

I went and got a couple truck FI tunes from the repository to use as compares. One is a Procharger, the other a turbo.
Looking at the 3D chart views you can see the terrible flat spot as big as a coffee table on mine compared to a nice slope in the others it most likely should be.
