Default Got stomped by a Ranger last nite!

I know my truck it pretty much stock, but damm!!
I had my truck in od at the stop light, the ac was on low as well when he pulled up next to me. The road narrowed down to one lane so I knew I had to stomp it or take a back seat to a FORD. This all happened pretty quick, the little ford smoked me as I was handicapped by the ac and the od a little. I am not even sure if I would have beat him if I was ready. This little Ranger had a "91" 5.0 motor in it. I talked to the guy at the parking lot we both turnred into after the malay insued. The motor had a few bolt ons but nothing special. I guess its time to break out the wallet.
any suggestions on good mods for a 2002 standard cab, 3:73 gears,5.3l, Z71?
I already have a HPP3, You see how much good that did me, K
+N stock replace ment, and a home made ram air almost done.
I know the ram air will do little down low so...Let me know what works best. No nitrous though.

I know a guy around here that has a 302 in a newer body ranger and it is pretty quick. I have seen him run high 13s at the track. Fairly nice looking truck with Cobra Rs all the way around. So dont feel bad, he would have even beaten me with all the stuff I have done to mine unless I sprayed him.

That sucks. Sorry to say but a bolt on here or there isn't going to help against that combination of big motor in a little truck. Maybe it's Radix time?

you got that right. The guy with the Ranger was real cool.
He was mentioning that he may be hetting a Paxton SC soon. That thing will be all over the road!! It still makes me when I get smoked, especially by a low buck home built truck. It looked pretty much stock from a glance except for the 5.0 badges. Oh well...

my wifes best friend's husband has a nice ranger drag truck that is street legal. however you would know when you pulled up on it. it has huge drag looking tires on the rear. all it has is a 302 that is built and has weight reduction done to an already light truck, that can only mean one thing, fast..... i'd like to see some more guys taking old tpi 305's or 350's and making some sleepers of their own. speaking of which, how much does a tpi engine and older s10 run these days?
