Default Gathering a poll, good/bad to remove the front drive shaft on a AWD truck to dyno it?

So people say this works and does no damage to the clutch in the transfer case but I dont know.

Do you think it is a good idea or bad idea to remove front drive shaft and run the truck on a 2WD dyno.

Will the clutch hold up or what other damage could occure.

I need to get this on a dyno one way or another, Im looking for a transfer case to mod into a 2WD unit but finding one cheap is hard.

What do you guys think???

If you are looking for an absolute then don't do it. Give Rick @ Synergy a call and maybe he can set you up in one way or another with the one he told you he modified to be able to do this. You can find the other threads you asked this question in :

It should just lock the clutch in the t case and spin the front output. I dont see how it would hurt anything. Should be easier on it than when it has a front shaft in it.

the tcase has a direct drive to the rearend and the frontend is connected via the clutch. if you take the front driveshaft out you will take ALL stress off the clutch and make a bit more power. DO IT!!!!

I have dyno'd my AWD 03 Silverado SS at least 50 pulls (4 different sessions) with the front shaft removed with no issues as of yet. I was more worried about the rear shaft blowing than damaging my T-case. BTW, I was north of the 500/500 mark many times if you need a power reference.

No body chimed in on the negative side yet. I am sure there is some issues that haven't been brought up yet.
