this will be the 2nd spider gear set i have demolished in the past 10,000 miles.


i just installed 2" drop shackles last night, with no shims. that couldnt have caused my spider gears to die again?
i do drive a little crazy sometimes, so im assuming thats what killed em again.

anyone know anywhere i can pick up a new 2wd carrier for dirt cheap? cause if not, im going to have to buy a truetrac, which i dont have the money for yet.

Is that a G80? i changed out the whole rear end awhile ago.

thats a stock open carrier, not G80. No, your drop shackles didnt cause this. Aggressive driving is the culprit. My buddy's were chewed up pretty badly and had 250k on the stock set of spiders.

 

these had about 110,000 on em.

im thinking about doing a truetrac + gears + master install kit from eaby for about $570

should i go with 3.73s or 4.10s? how big is the power difference between the two? i have 3.42s now. my gas mileage already sucks, so if im going to do the swap, would it be worth it to go to 3.73s, or should i got all out on 4.10s
