Default Changing Spark Plugs - headers in way

I have changed 6 of the 8 spark plugs in my truck but the back one on either side is extremely difficult to get to with the headers. Any advice on tools out there that may help? Thanks.

To get the old ones out you can always break the porcelin part off. Then you will probably have room to get a shallow socket on them.

Would it be easier to take the inner fender well off? 6 push pins and a conector for the wiring harness, Take the front wheels off and you have plenty of room to work. Just a thought

Is it like your name? 1988 sierra with a 383? If so then you have to go from under the truck and use a sparkplug socket and a wrench instead of a ratchet.

Yeah, it's a 88 with a 383. Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a try.

May need to use an open end wrench over the end of the spark plug socket(some have a hex shaped back).

Some people might cringe at the thought of using a wrench on a spark plug, but in a tight spot I love my crows foot attachments for my ratchet. It's basically an open ended wrench head with an opening for whatever size ratchet you have. The advantage of using that setup is your not stuck with a straight wrench banging into things, as long as the attachment head is on the spark plug you can put the ratchet on it at any angle and go click by click nice and easy...
