Default 4L80E questions

Will the 4L80E fit in a TBSS? I was looking for an upgrade solution.

Thanks,
Chad

2wd or awd. 2wd should be pretty easy. Is the awd the same as Silverado awd?

I think speed engineering came out with a solution about a month or to ago for the awd transfer case.

Mine is a 2wd TBSS. I have a 4L80E sitting here. I do not want to do this with out knowing what I will be getting into. Also will the computer accept the calibration of the new trans?

Computer will accept it. You are going to need another vss and tap it into the pcm, you can get it from speed engineering. The 80e uses 2 vss (speed sensors) so the extra one is for the front of the trans. Then you are going to need to flash an 80e transmission file into the pcm. You will need to also change the yoke on the driveshaft to mate with the 4l80. Not sure if you will have to cut the driveshaft, I did not have to cut mine.

From the information that Vince posted, it looks like the 4L70-E already has a front sensor. It's got a smaller number of teeth than the input ring on a 4L80-E.
Electrically, It might be possible just to re-pin the existing harness to the right connectors for the 80-E.

My main concern is finding the right bin file as I do not know of a newer truck running the 4L80E.

If you happen to find another 4L80E laying around lemme know ... I want to rebuild a tranny myself.
