ok i was hookin up a start button in my truck today and found a chip under the dash, it was in a chip plug from looked like it was made to where you could take it out and change them, well out couriousness i pulled it out and ran the truck couldnt tell a difference so im confused, everything on the truck still works an all, so if any one knows what this chip is please tell me, theres a number on the chip- 43416

 

Did it look aftermarket? May be an older style trans logic harness type of thing...or a theft deterrent where the truck's not supposed to start when the chip/key is removed...that no longer works?

 

no it looks pretty stock, like i said, everything still works, im thinking it could somthing like revlimiter or governor maybe

 

Catalogue says that chip is a Texas Instruments Variable Frequency PCM Interface. If your truck is 4x4, it could be a pulse-frequency translator for when you are in 4-low. Those things are usually encased in a plastic housing, not exposed like that.

 

well it was in a plastic housing, i just opened the end up and pulled it out, but my truck sadly is only 2WD
