Default Will 16's fit on the front of 05-up Trucks?

Will be trading my truck in and am wondering if a set of stock 16's will fit on the front with the bigger brakes that the trucks got in 05'. I have heard that the reason they now come w/ the 17's is to accomodate the larger rotor.
Anybody ever verify this or now for sure if they will or wil not bolt up?

Thats what I thought...I knew somebody out there had tried it, do the wheels actually contact the caliper or rotor?
