How in the heck do I get this SES light to go away? I changed my oil... I swear.

turn the key to the on position and hit the gas peddle to the floor 3 times and wait for the light to blink then turn it off

There is a difference. If it is the ses light (the little engine picture) that is a different problem, and must be diagnosed and cleared with a tech II, or hp tuners, or scanner of your choice. Most auto parts houses will scan it and tell you the code for free. ISNT AMERICA GREAT?? if it just the change oil light, then you do the pedal three times. or even easier just find a friend with a tech II.

If not try again and the reset instructions are in your user manual.

All GMs with the change oil light that ive came accross so far (hundreds) you just do the gas pedal trick. Oh all of the useless info you learn working at a dealership...
