Default Lowering rear end...pinion angle off?

If I just lower the rear end of my truck, will it negatively affect my pinion angle and such? I dont want to burn anything out!

Depends on how much you lower it. If your pinion angle does get thrown off, and you have leaf springs, pinion shims are only about $3 each. Definitely get the angle checked after you lower it.

You should make sure the pinion angle is correct, any driveline shop can check this for you.

How much are you lowering the back? After lowering mine 2" with shackles, I've had no vibration issues what so ever. If you're going more than that, then the carrier bearing will need to be moved to achieve a proper pinion angle. Most lowering kit companies sell these.

Driveshaft angles adding to 0* is ideal, but as we all know, suspesions move, and as a result, so does your pinion angle. If you have access to an angle finder its an easy process to see what size shims you'll need.

So if I buy these 2"shackles I'm looking at, my pinion angle won't mess up and my truck won't explode, right?

You'll know if there's an issue because you will have vibration at certain speeds. Even then, you'll be okay until you get it fixed. Over time you can damage the u-joints, but not if you get it fixed fairly soon after the problem surfaces.

To get it fixed I could take it to a shop and have them shim it? I wonder what places would do something like that....?
