I gradually pressed on taking my time and also checking that the pulley still rotated (not hitting the pump body since the pulley is much thicker than the stock pulley). Mine went on without any contact. I stopped when my gauge (set from earlier stock removal) showed I was there (measuring at a point between the two lines I made with the sharpie earlier).
