yea it kinda is.. but theres not a whole lot of difference between the 30-06 and 308 with the 168 and 175gr stuff.. its only when you get in the 190 and up is when it shines, but then you might as well go to the 300WM and blow both them out the water.
plus the 308 always had better scores than the 30-06 at the 1000yd matchs.
most the 30-06 loads dont fill the case much and i know alot of guys were getting alot of vertical stringing at long distances even tho their SD was pretty close. All my 308 loads are pretty tight on filing the case. No room in there

Snagged a 4-16 PST SFP with rings for 550 so its time to play. Put a seekins 20moa base on it so I should have enough elevation for 1k on the turrets. Picked up 400 178Amaxs and nonnie got me 500 175gr SMKs to play with. Ive got 750 rounds of cheapie CBC and Magtech to plink with and have fun then I can start doing some load development as soon as I get a good scale. I think a good trigger of some sort and threading the barrel will be the only real mods to this thing. I love the factory stock and with the medium height vortex(seekins) rings I get pretty good cheek weld. I just cant see myself spending 500+ on a better stock at this point. Ready to dive off into reloading and getting some good practice at longer ranges.
