suggestions for long rifle

Niether one of those are going to be much fun for 1200yd shots especially if there is any wind.
Chase, Im pretty sure Danny knows more about guns than I ever thought about so Id listen to him.
There are a ton of places to read up on reloading, and the cost like everything else solely depends on what you want. You can get setup for 400ish real easy, but if you want to go with a progressive, rcbs scale and a brass tumbler youre looking closer to 1000 but its all nice stuff. Theres even more expensive stuff out there but as with anything there is a happy medium.

Who did you find that will cut a 7WSM chamber in a small shank barrel (assuming you are ordering a drop in)?

Theres so many options its not funny!!
Ive shot sub MOA at 1000yds with the cheapest R700 SPS in .270 thats bone stock with a $275 millett scope, 140gr Bergers.
also have a savage 110 with a model 112 300WM Factory savage barrel that does under half moa at 600yds with 210Gr Bergers. Had a good friend show me how to set the head space on it with sized brass.
Then i put together a .22-250 with a Mcgowen 9 twist on a R700 action that shoots under half MOA at 600yds, with 80Gr bergers.
Most importantly it comes down to ammo quality, thats where Reloading comes in.
For example, i couldnt get my .270 to group for nothing with any of the factory ammo i tired in it. And nobody exactly makes a "match" .270 round off the shelf. So i tested some 140gr Bergers and found out that it was very capable at 1000yds.
But if i had to pick, it would be a Savage off the shelf. No other factory rifle is setting records in the 600 and 1000yd competitions. And the ability to swap barrels in a minute is just nice.

While i agree thats a good group, your goin to need that size group at 300-400yds to do anything decent 1000yd+ shooting.

I frequent shooting 1000 yards.
This is how its starts first start with the round.
7mm wsm or 7mm-300wsm (Yes there is a slight difference) The neck on the 7mm-300wsm is slightly longer for more bearing surface. This is critical when shooting longer bullets like Berger 180gr VLDs.
IE effeicency is what your looking for. Another great round is the .284 winchester with 162gr A-Max bullets.
Barrels are the next thing. I can say Broughton barrels for .284 and .264 are among the highest quality for those bore diameters. Others included are Kreiger and Bartlein as well.
Actions, Defiance, Bighorn or APA.
Stocks, Mcmillan or Manners
Triggers, Timney are good Jewell are among the best for a single stage. But most will be happy with a Timney.
Rings and bases........ Badger Ordanance.
Scope at least look into spending 1k my Schmidt 5-25pm2 was over 3k several years ago! Tracking and durability is the key then comes clairty.
For a gunsmith I recommend Jered Joplin at APA. Hes built me 2 hammers that are almost unbelieveable. My 6.5-284 shot 2" group at 600 yards from a Harris bipod from a picnic table, my 7mm-300wsm shot a .416" group at 356 yards and I regulary take that gun to 1000, nailing a 14" plate steel. My scope will get me a little over 2000 yards as is. His work is very hard to beat, but when buiding a gun from the ground up it starts with the caliber, then the throat is cut for a certin bullet. Its really built as a complete package.
