Default Springfield armory mil-spec 1911

Just bought it on my 21st b-day, I'm picking it up the 26th. I'll post pics when I get it, all I have right now is me holding it and that covers the majority of the pistol haha. How do all you guys like your lower-end Springfields? I was pretty well set on either a Springfield or a colt but colt was out of my price range haha

Nice buy man. The only thing I don't like about my SA Mil-spec is that it can be a little picky with ammo. However, every firearm is a little different so yours may eat anything. Mine doesn't like the 185gr Hornady JSWC's or their combat target JSWC either. It does feed 230gr hardball, all the gold dots, and golden saber ammo very well though. Beyond ammo, those things shoot great. Never had a problem that didn't come back to the choice of ammo.

That's good to hear haha. Guess I'll have to find out myself. I found 100 federal 230 gr wadcutters for 58 bucks at a local gun store.

Did you customize yours or just leave it the way it is?

I just left it the way it was. No point in fixing something that isn't broken. Minus changing out the grips and using Wilson mags, it's bone stock. As far as the wadcutters go, I don't know if they'll feed reliably or not. My Father's Colt Gold Cup was designed to feed them. However, I've never had the thought of trying them out.

No I bought the 8-round mags. I know they make 10 round mags though. I figured that if I needed an extra two rounds out of a 1911, then maybe I should spend more time on the firing line.

True that. What kind of groups are you shooting? How many rounds through your pistol now?

The groups are not going to win me a match anytime soon. At 25 yards off hand with handloads, I'm sitting right around 3-3.5in groups so long as I do my part. Granted though, this isn't a competition pistol. For a combat pistol, I'd take this over that pos M9. To date, I've got around 4,500 rounds down the tube. It's getting pretty close to being time to swap the springs.

OP, bulkammo.com has alot of ammo back in stock and the prices are getting closer to where they should be every week. I get an email from them once a week listing the best deals and sale prices on each caliber and was super impressed with their shipping time and prices. Just fyi.
