Default New AR upper or Rock Island 1911A1

Getting my tax return back and I was thinking about getting something fun with it. What do you think?

If I get another upper for my AR it will either be a 20-24" 5.56 or a 20-24" 6.8. You can use a regular lower with the 6.8 upper right? Will I have to worry about the buffer tube weight being for a carbine?

I've got a rock island 1911 pretty good pistol, compared to the better brands, andd all parts are interchangeable with other 1911's

I am in the exact same boat!

Regular lower works fine, get multi-cal though!

and just so you know, there isn't much difference between 16-20" barrels on 6.8

I vote 1911! The RIA 1911 is nice for the price, but you should also look at the American Classic 1911s. They're in the same price range, and IMO, nicer guns. I used to have one, the only reason I don't still have it is I have two other 1911s and I was able to trade it for a really nice S&W revolver I wanted.

agreed, all reviews I read on them when I decided a 1911 would be my next handgun were good!
