Default VVT Tuning.....

I think there's a big mystery here about VVT tuning, I know there is with me. What I've done so far is tweak the high and low octane tables and ditched the govorner. The octane table tweaking has yeilded small, niticeable results but I'm still haunted about the VVT variable. Can anyone in the know shed some light on the subjes, please...................

there is some good reading in this thread, but the literature on the subject is thin because alot of tuners are not wanting to let out there secrets....

I remember reading about a guy writing his own software to generate the VE coefficients, but I'm not sure how refined it was in the end, nor if he included the ability to calculate the coefficients for VVT. If I were you I would set the dynamic airflow disable to some RPM before VVT comes in, and then just tune for spark. As VVT hits, you'll see dynamic cylinder air jump up a bit, probably in the 0.05-0.1g range. Reduce timing just a bit on that transition, but tune like you would normally to get more power on the high end.

Has anyone compared the new 6.2 with a VVT cam and one without? The VVT seems like it's trying to accomplish the best of both worlds (performance and fuel economy). Could you get better performance from a CAM that removes the VVT? Still trying to read up on it but that's kinda gathered about it so far.

Still new to this so if I am way off base I am open for the more experienced thoughts.

Yeah that's the point, to flatten the torque curve and make more power up top. Its V8 V-TAK

I think if one can understand the tuning behind it the you can better utilize a VVT cam over a standard one. Most people will get 2-4 degrees of advance ground into a cam to bring it the power sooner in the powerband. With VVT we are able to do this electronically and then retard it back out in the upper RPMs to carry the power through out the rpm range

THanks for the HP tuners link tiffo- looks like just what I need. Gonna tak a little time to digest it all. As for the performance of the whole VVT and the 6.2 I just love it to death, I can lug it down to 950 RPM tooling around or run up top at 120MPH when needed.............

add a degree above 5500 {retard cam 1 degree in actual terms} leave the rest of the table stock in the vvt tables. you have a stock cam, the cam is different than that of 09's and older vvt vehicles. hence the difference in the tables.
