valet mode?
i got to thinking last night about having to ship my truck across country next year. now my 02 excursion has a 6 position chip and its shift on the fly. one of the positions is a valet mode that doesnt allow my truck to exceed 25mph. i have heard horror stories of car shippers damaging vehicles and beating on them and was wondering if its remotely possible to add a valet function to a 2000 silverado pcm.

If you have a copy of HPtuners you could just tune it to have a speed limiter at 25mph and then reflash the tune when you get it back.
|
yeah i honestly cant afford hp tuners any time soon. i was just wondering mainly if you could have a switch like my sexcursion. oh well maybe ill buy a second pcm and have a 25mph speed limiter installed before i hand it over to the hauler and switch them out when i get it back.

Set speed to 20 and rev limiter to 1200

ill pick up a 2nd PCM this weekend and talk to wheatley and see if he can hook me up.

I have been wondering this myself, more so for when my wife drives my truck.
I know it sounds crazy, but I have wondered about running 2 computers on a power switch. Shut the truck off, flip a hidden switch, and be on a limited tune or a hot tune. |

I think most of us on here just use multiple pcm's when it starts getting into doing multiple tunes. Or flash back and for as necessary.
|
What last call is talking about sounds interesting. Is it a full second tune or just limited levels set?
I am under the impression that these computers aren't capable of dual tunes, so just guessing the "valet" mode is just speed/rpm limiting of some fashion. |
I think KBracing had one.

Just make sure you warn whoever is gonna be driving it. Don't want them pulling out in traffic and getting rear ended because they can't accelerate.

You still need to tell them. If he has a heavy foot and the engine shuts off at 25 mph unexpectedly, you will be liable if he busts his lip on your steering wheel.
It will be a lot more violent than shutting the engine down at 95 mph. |
What? It's not going to just shut down. just limit the amount of throttle input and RPM's

The PCM on a 2000 shuts the engine off because the it can't operate a cable throttle. I forgot about limiting the rpm, that would be safer for the driver, but all the talk has been about a speed limiter.
