I want to get my truck tuned but i dont want my pants pulled down over the price. anyone mind telling me how much to expect to pay for a tuning session?

 

You have a few different options, which will determine cost:

Dyno tune... probably the most accurate type of tune, but also one of the most expensive. You'll have to pay for credits for the tuning software, plus dyno time, etc.. It can get to $500 quickly, at least where I am. And with little mods, not worth the cost.

Buying the software- Cost wise, around 500 to 600 (or somewhere around there). EFiLive, HPTuners are two good choices. This allows you to do your own tuning. But there is a learning curve and you can make mistakes that can be bad. But again, when you want to make changes, it's right there, no waiting, no appoitments, etc..

Mail order tune. A mail order tune will run around $300.00. There's a few good sponsors here who can do that for you. And with only an intake and exhaust, you'll see a marked improvement over stock. The drawback to that is, downtime waiting for your PCM to travel to and back. But if you aren't doing alot of mods, then it's not a big deal. Blackbear and Wheatley are two good choices.
